Attending the event are Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose daughter died of a tumour, and who established a foundation, a charity called Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to support families who have a child with a terminal illness. "Your efforts, love, and understanding, often quietly and unspoken, and without any thought of thanks or praise, make an extraordinary difference to the well-being of people," the Princess expressed in a letter ahead of the concert. A Gradual Return The royal has been undertaking her own steady comeback to the public eye after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, in November making her initial major address in two years, in which she discussed recognising the "quiet, often invisible work of caring". Musical Talent and Access Guests arriving at the Abbey will be entertained by young musicians aided by the Future Talent organisation, set up with the help of the late Duchess of Kent to broaden opportunities for musical tuition. An 18-year-old named Carys Wood, who performs on the trumpet and is from Wales, has been helped by the organisation, with grants helping towards musical instruments, lessons and travel costs - and she said it was "incredible" to be playing at tonight's service. "Music can be very expensive," she stated. She is now a student at the prestigious music academy, and added that "all people deserve the chance" to hone their artistic talents. A Family Affair Her younger sibling Eliza, aged 11, who performs on the brass instrument, will also be at the Abbey. "It's unbelievable that I get to perform here in front of so many important people," she said. Attending the service will be people from various age groups. That will include Saphia Turner, aged nine, winner of a prize for youthful altruism, who sells artwork and carries out sponsored challenges to collect donations for local food charities. Festive Decor and Performances The Abbey has been adorned with custom-created holiday decorations, with TV cook Mary Berry and florist Simon Lycett assisting in their creation. Taking to the stage will be Katie Melua, choristers from Westminster Abbey and a nautical singing ensemble, Fisherman's Friends, who said the opportunity to perform was "the icing on the cake for us." The Together at Christmas carol concert will be televised and shown on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
